About the Division

Division Overview

The Division of Fisheries & Marine Resources is responsible for managing the sustainable development of fisheries across the entire Madang Province. Our mandate covers both coastal and inland fisheries, ensuring the conservation of aquatic resources while promoting economic growth and food security. We work closely with communities, cooperatives, and industry partners to develop the sector, implement sustainable practices, and enforce compliance with fisheries regulations.

Coastal Development

FAD deployment, fisheries cooperatives, and community-based organization (CBO) support for sustainable coastal fisheries.

Inland Fisheries

Promoting and developing fish farming and inland aquaculture to enhance food security and livelihoods.

Community Engagement

Strengthening fisheries cooperatives and community organizations for sustainable resource management.
